student intern March - June 2021

During the gap year after obtaining my bachelor's degree in law, I had the opportunity to do an internship at Van Poppel Croonen Advocaten in the months of March, April, May and June 2021.

During my internship I was mainly occupied with researching the literature and jurisprudence. Not only did I improve my legal knowledge during these months, but also my presentation and writing skills came into play. For instance, I had the opportunity to present at two specialist meetings and I wrote a Legal Update for the website. Personally, I was still hesitating about my choice of Master's, but thanks to the office-wide internship I have found out that my interests also connect in practice and therefore I was able to make the right choice.

In addition, the atmosphere at the office is very pleasant and there is always room for own initiatives. The door is open to everyone, which makes it easy to walk in for questions. Since the coronavirus unfortunately prevented a physical team outing, a cosy online wine tasting was organised in which the entire team was present.

The past four months have been good for my personal and legal development. I really enjoyed myself and experienced this period as instructive and challenging, but also as pleasant. I would recommend an internship at VPCA to every law student who wants to take a look into practice!
